3 months on

Three months ago , I came here to Spain for the sun, not the Spanish, just happens to be their country.

Migrants every where , set up their home, their ways in a foreign land, ever since the early settlers and it takes generations to infiltrate  to merge, especially if there is a language barrier as well as customs.

Living as opposed to being on holiday is certainly different. On the Costa Blanca there are enough English to be able to completely ignore the Spanish. There are bars, restaurants, newspapers, shops, car dealers, plumbers, builders , electricians etc all dependent on the Ex Pat community living here. It has become that way because the Spanish could not organise a piss up in a siesta. Totally inefficient. You can walk around Spanish Car Showrooms and NO ONE walks up to you !!!!!

Anything the Spanish have to do Insurance, telephone all takes ages, tomorrow never comes .  Even getting Internet TV and telephone services is handled by English businesses based here after Telefonica  have slept on the job for a thousand siesta manyanas.

Certainly the Spanish ignore the English and the Scandinavians, Russians, French, we all ignore each other. There are exceptions, some say Buenos Dias. However like the English resent the Polish and East European migrants, it must be the same for the Spanish invaded by drunks from another  land. Because that is what most of the Ex Pats do, drink, bar crawl, become alcoholics, their excuse nothing else to do, bored. So smoke and drink in various bars night after night..............boring, boring, boring.  And that is all the Northern Europeans.

Beer is cheap, wine is cheap, food is cheap, eating out is cheap, even eating in is outdoors in the garden, no need for clothes, only for etiquette and manners, minimum night temperatures 22 degrees Ceentigrade  July, 30 in the shade in the afternoon..

Talking about manners, the  Spanish were not in when they were dished out. Some are 3 foot 12 inches, I kid you not, they are shorter than my garden gate as they walk pass. So maybe thy could not see over the counter when it came to getting privacy, quiet, discretion. Of course, we are  all outdoors with windows and doors open, noise will travel more, but they SHOUT. Especially the women all talking over each other gaggling. Mobile phones just add to the OLA  problem.  Noise abatement, you won’t find a branch here !!

They all smoke too. They have wonderful health facilities, boy do they need them. Hot Latin heads behind steering wheels, Ben Hur would have a more difficult race. Many accidents, most are bumps, but they are clueless when it comes to driving,  where they leave their car, they cannot park a car, park on zebra crossings, across entrances, in the middle of the street, it really is like the school run here all day every day. Horns and radios blaring, their so called in car entertainment, not music, monotonous noise.

Last night I shone a torch in a drivers face sat in his car engine running for ages outside my house in the near middle of the street along the storm drain that is alongside my pavement , so cars are not allowed to park there, there are barriers. 11pm this twat just sitting there hazard lights flashing engine running, I told him to go forth and multiply, to which he verily did, bosso.

I must admit that July and August ins going to be the busy holiday months and this town is a major holiday destination for all Europeans even the 4 hour drive down the A3 for the Madrid population. The holiday makers are here in force and I remember the residents of Newquay in Cornwall being derogatory about tourists, even though Newquay would not have existed without them.

I guess it’s the invasion factor, litter, noise, riff raff, no one likes an invasion, except the invaders. After all I am an invader. But I came to stay, and to make the place better, contribute, not just use and abuse it.

There is lots of beauty to behold. Blue skies are not tedious. My own little bit is a nica placa. I am fine, it’s the others.

Don’t try to demonstrate road rage with me El Loco , I can have idiots like you for toast and jam. Don’t try to rip me off with your Diego Customs. Don’t try to tell me I can’t do  what I do... that will piss me off too. Just let me be, in the sun, like the Leo that I am, that’s what I am here for,

Viva Allan in Espania. ... O Lay
