Spain has a varied Landscape and driving through it is NOT boring. Santander to Torrevieja, almost 1000 kms, like Penzance to John O Groats., long way, 3 mountain ranges, 2 of which are snow capped. Always rains in Santander, normally the weather in Spain is in 2 halves, north and south.
No hold ups, no accidents, not much traffic apart from around Madrid which is difficult to navigate, one wrong turn and Carramba !!!!
The poor old van has now served it's purpose , and I am now trying to sell it or part exchange it for a small diesel car. It did well not only 2 trips to England and Brittany Ferries , but as a store room too, moving stuff in and out.
Soon it will be time to relax. A garden has been transported, 1000 miles south, as well as furniture, and then blue skies and palm trees and the communial swimming pool to cool off.
Told you the pavements were PINK !!!!
Taking shape. 130 year old London Street Gas lamp now converted to Solar Power in Spain, alongside Spanish and imported English flowers I sailed, I landed (the van was always searched England and Spain - mistrusting officials !!), I unloaded, I decorated, I painted, I constructed, I repaired, I planted, I bought.
I can now sunbathe !!!!
Spanish Food is good, various, interesting. Spanish people are short and noisy.
Spanish trees and plants are varied too.
Most of the 600 passengers on Brittany Ferries are English holiday makers, (Motor Homes, Cars, Motorbikes) or Spanish Lorry drivers, served by a French crew, linguistically it is Europe plus Google on wi fi is in Norwegian!!!. Some really miserable wives and hen pecked husbands aboard, I don't know why the husband did not shout woman over board, they were that miserable moaning Minnie.
I met Kenny on way back last time in the Ship's lounge bar. He has a Villa near me, with a pool and a swimming robot that keeps it clean. Kenny was from Peckham, a former Mobster, now retired to the sun. His wife, 17 years younger was bored , so he bought her a bar. He showed me a foto of his villa, I said that's not A VILLA IT'S A CASTLE !!!
Kenny, known to the locals as Del Boy has a hard time with the local envious Police. Maybe he always had a hard time with local constabulary. He was a likable rogue, ironically he had himself been a victim of crime. Got mugged in Benidorm by 3 "drunk " Rumanian girls, ripped off his gold chains and stole his passport. Hence his return to London to get a new medallion and a new passport. Surprised they let him out again !!!!! Laugh.
